St Medan

Hold drive centre right of fairway. Dead-ground in front of green makes approach shot longer than it looks. Good opening hole against the wind.

Dasher's Den

Normal drive into hollow leaves blind shot to the green. Delicate touch is required as any shot going through the green may leave yourself close to the boundary wall. Play to run ball onto green unless you are confident of stopping the ball from a high shot.

Muckle Skelp

Drive centre left of fairway then play over ridge into valley setting up blind approach. Pitch short to run on as approach and front of green slopes steeply away.

Captain's Leap

Beware of ravine in front of green if in doubt play a club more and aim centre left of green.

Plateau

Hold drive centre left of fairway, ground slopes to the right. Ensure plenty of club for the approach shot as back bank will act as a stop. Anything shot finishing short of the putting surface will run to the bottom of the steep bank leaving yourself a tricky pitch. Although the members would putt from down here!

Portree

Accurate tee shot left centre required on this slight dog leg. Trouble awaits up the right hand side. Treat with care.

Gorsebank

Very trick hole. On no accounts miss green left. There is now a ledge which may catch some stray shots - but not all. Best to be back right. Be careful with your putt - it can be deceptively quick if your above the hole.

Flyover

The next three holes offer good birdie opportunities to the better players. Hold drive to right to allow for steep slope. Burn all the way up left.

Hillcrest

Should be straightforward , but be wary of the bunkers on the right from the tee. Green sits just at top of rise. Don't enter hollow in fairway until 10th tee is clear.

Erinview

Out of Bounds very much in play from the tee, but a well placed tee shot sets up a short approach to an open green. The longer hitters need to be aware of the trouble awaiting to the right of fairway.

Puddlehole

Real 'Sporty' hole. Green sits between two shoulders. If you miss the green you've left yourself a tricky shot to a roller-coaster green.

Dunskey

Hole goes slightly uphill so plays longer that its yardage. There is a bunker lurking up the left hand side from the tee and two awaiting down the right. Narrow green slopes away on both side. As indicated by the S.I, a difficult par.

Sandeel

Spectacular setting, bay and cliffs form a scenic backdrop. Don't gaze too long and forget the golf! The out of bounds fence is not far away. Hold right of the tee unless you feel you can drive the green.

Glenside

Straightforward drive, 2nd shot plays uphill so play an extra club. Watch this green it slopes sharply from right to left (as you play the hole). Take extra care with the putting and don't be generous by giving a gimmee to your opponent!

Campbell's Gamble

Short hole but very tricky. Hidden green kicks down from right side and bunkers await left and through the green.

Rickwood

Solid drive leaves a blind approach shot to a narrow green sloping away to back left. Hold shot to front right of green.

Greenfield

A stray ball is likely to be lost down the left hand side and bunkers await in the fairway on the right. Two-tier green but definitely a birdie chance.

Journey's End

Good finishing hole with out of bounds running the entire length of the hole to your left. Drive to a fairly narrow fairway. Approach to green should be held left as ground slopes down from that side. Beware the two-tier green.
