Many congratulations to 12 year old Matthew who became our Junior Club Champion on Monday evening.

Second place went to Adam McDougall and third to Alastair Baillie.

Junior Golf Festival a great success
Once again the Junior coaching weekend was a great success. Around 60 youngsters attended the two day event and credit goes to James Erskine, PGA Professional, for getting things organised!
A number of coaching stations were set up on the practice ground, Dinvin course and putting green which involved everyone from age 5 to 18! James was ably assisted by another local lad, Tom Buchanan, now at Duddingston Golf Club and a number of club volunteers.
Our sincere thanks to all who helped on the day. Also I would like to thank our members and sponsors who contributed towards the running costs of another highly successful weekend.
There are a load of photographs which will appear in due course on the website.
Harry Fidler - Club Champion
The Portpatrick Dunskey Club Championship was held on Sunday 20th June. A field of 24 competed in very windy conditions and on a fast golf course with great greens!
At the end of 36 holes, two players were tied on 146, Harry Fidler and Alan Murdoch. After a titanic play off of very high quality, Harry eventually won the day after the 7th extra hole!!
It was great credit to both players who provided great entertainment for the excellent crowd following behind in a fleet of buggies!
Congratulations to the new Club Champion, Harry Fidler! In the Handicap section, many congratulations go to Billy Whorlow with rounds of net 66 & net 65 - a clear winner by 7 shots!
Full results are posted here.
David Little - Spalding Cup Winner
A very well kent face here at Dunskey is the new holder of the Spalding Cup! David Little is one of our longest serving members, so many congratulations to him for an excellent performance on the day.

New Course Record for Gillian!
Many congratulations to Gillian Monteith for her superb course record round of 66 here at Dunskey last week. She broke her own course record by 2 shots! The Club is very proud of Gillian's achievements and would like to wish her well for events throughout the season! Just look at the scorecard:
Gillian also took the South of Scotland Ladies Championship recently at Powfoot where she won by 5 clear shots.
Her season continues to go from strength to strength, however it was reported back that in her effort to help a recent playing partner retrieve a ball from a field, she got caught on a fence and had to be helped down!! If only we had the photo!!
STOP PRESS Gillian breaks another local course record!! On Saturday last, Gillian not only won the Wigtownshire Ladies Championship at Newton Stewart, but she also broke the course record with a fine round of 70 - a full 3 shots better than the previous record!!
Junior Golf Festival - Sat 12th June & Sun 13th June
The photo below shows a group of our Swiss members and their American friends handing over a generous donation towards the junior weekend.

This is a copy of the advert which appeared recently to promote the Golf Festival.
Dunskey and the Gulf Stream
Who said the Gulf Stream doesn't affect this area?
From the satellite photo, you can see that this wee corner of South West Scotland seldom gets the snow!!
Gateway to Golf Passes
We accept the above passes issued by VisitScotland
We are on their web based info and you can order your passes by phoning VisitScotland on 01387 34 55 66.

Professional Shop returns to Dunskey!
The Professional Shop has been open here at Dunskey for about three months and is providing a very important service to the Club, its members and visitors.
The shop is very well stocked with a full range of golf equipment, clothing etc and we would encourage everyone to make full use of the shop and to support our local PGA Pro, James Erskine in his new venture.
For full details of the Shop and PGA Professional Services, visit www.jameserskinegolf.co.uk for more information.
Green Keeping Practices at Dunskey
We are very pleased to say that we were selected for inclusion within the SGU website for case studies on Good Greenkeeping Practices. To see the report, please go to www.scottishgolf.org.
This is a real feather in the cap for the Club and we really appreciate the time spent on the visit and the preparation of the report. Great credit goes to committee in years gone by to go down the STRI route and to the greens committee, Head Greenkeeper Alan McWilliam and his team for the fantastic work carried out on the golf course.
Portpatrick
Situated on the coast in south west Scotland, overlooking the North Channel to Ireland, Portpatrick Dunskey enjoys a temperate climate due to the Gulf Stream and is playable all year round. There are 2 courses, the Dunskey 18-hole, and the Dinvin 9-hole, which are a mixture of rolling moorland and seaside heath, at around 150 feet above sea level.
VISITORS
The club is renowned for it's warm welcome to visitors, and is popular for day trips, weekend breaks and golfing holidays. There is a wide range of accommodation and numerous other activities & attractions locally for those considering longer stays.
Families are welcome to play the Dinvin 9-hole course, which does not require advance booking.
Groups of golfers come from all over Scotland, as well as from Ireland, England, Scandinavia and beyond, to enjoy the challenges of the Dunskey, for the regular open competitions, the wonderful scenery as it changes with the seasons, and the hospitality of the club.
