Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Winner...

Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Winner 44 Pros from the UK and 6 from Continental Europe Competed for the Grand Slam Golf Event.

No stone was left un-turned for this event which culminated in a final day individual pro tournament played off the blue tees over a distance of 6733 yards which featured 3 lakes and 67 bunkers. The eventual winner of the individual event was James Erskine from Portpatrick Dunskey Golf Club, who shot a fantastic 1 under par 71 to claim the individual title closely followed by Ian Benson from Hindhead Golf Club and Jason Brant from East Berks Golf Club on 1 over par 73.

There was also a team event which was won by a team made up of James Erskine (Portpatrick Dunskey Golf Club), Jason Brant (East Berks Golf Club), Andrew Hurley (Arkley Golf Club) and Michael Smyth (Golfmagic.com).

“The event was very well organized, the facilities at Saadiyat Beach were first class and the course was superb. During the week we were treated tremendously by the Cleveland Golf/Srixon staff with the highlight being the 2012 products which look great. I am sure they will be a huge success I look forward to being part of the Cleveland Golf/Srixon family for many years to come.

Stanley Morrison Team Championship 2011

Stanley Morrison 2011 Winners The second ever Stanley Morrison Team Championship recently took place at Portpatrick Golf Club.

The event was sponsored by the Stanley Morrison charitable trust and was a free event for all competitiors. Coaching was on hand throughout the day with Professionals, Dean Robertson and James Erskine.

The Skills challenge areas were coordinated by the University of Stirling Golf team featuring 2 Scottish Internationalists Graeme Robertson, Jack Macdonald, Angus Carrick and Univerity Captain Bobby Rushford. 117 competitors took part in the event from all across the country.

It was a great day for all involved and the competitors will no doubt have taken some useful tips and advise from the team of experts.

Portpatrick

Situated on the coast in south west Scotland, overlooking the North Channel to Ireland, Portpatrick Dunskey enjoys a temperate climate due to the Gulf Stream and is playable all year round. There are 2 courses, the Dunskey 18-hole, and the Dinvin 9-hole, which are a mixture of rolling moorland and seaside heath, at around 150 feet above sea level.

Groups of golfers come from all over Scotland, as well as from Ireland, England, Scandinavia and beyond, to enjoy the challenges of the Dunskey, for the regular open competitions, the wonderful scenery as it changes with the seasons, and the hospitality of the club.
